It takes an api(+) Village
Winter Garden Village, the Sembler owned, api(+) designed, main street center in Winter Garden, Florida, opened in late 2007 to excellent reviews. Winter Garden Village includes over 1,000,000 square feet of retail, outparcels, omni buildings, and an approximately 725,000 square foot power center. api(+) served as Project Designer and Project Architect providing schematic design for the overall project as well as design development, construction documents and construction administration for the Town Center.

Tampa, Fla. -- The Groves at Winter Garden Village opens its doors to fill a growing consumer demand in the hot growing area of west Orange County. The site is located just 5 miles from Walt Disney World, where there is already a large customer base coming to the area; plans for the center call for the best of both retail worlds, a desirable main street village lifestyle component with a home improvement store, club, warehouse, furniture, soft goods and discount retailers on the peripheral. This mixed-use project originally being developed by The Sembler Company and designed by api(+) on the 1.4 million square feet and an estimated 100 stores, is essentially a mall without a roof, anchoring a SuperTarget, Lowe's, Barnes & Noble and Beall's Department Store.
The downtown lifestyle main street effect centers around restaurants, specialty retail and a themed plaza with wide sidewalks, streetscape amenities, and on-street parking in an open air, pedestrian friendly style. "Tailored-made for the community of Winter Garden, api(+) commits to developing a shopping and leisure destination with a perfect retail and architectural fit," says Romero.
Winter Garden Village is expected to be ranked as a landmark center putting Winter Garden on the map as a compelling retail destination. The all-encompassing roster of retailers, from big-box to lifestyle to service companies will draw shoppers from far away.
